Justice and Law Studies Objectives

To educate students in the workings of legal systems in America and around the world

To educate students in different theories of justice

To engage students in thinking about ways that different legal systems succeed and fail in promoting different conceptions of justice

To educate students in the deeply inter-disciplinary nature of law and justice, to recognize that an understanding of both law and justice requires study of their intersection with numerous disciplines, e.g., philosophy, religion, political science, history, and anthropology

To provide substantial exposure to those intersections

To promote critical thinking about all of the above
